The booking terms that apply when you travel with us. Written in plain English rather than lawyer-speak wherever possible. These terms form part of our contract with you from the moment you pay your deposit.
This agreement is between you (“you”, the “Client”) and Tanzania Rewilded Ltd (“we”, “us”, the “Company”), a limited liability company incorporated in Tanzania (Registration No. 142850, registered office at Sokoine Road, Arusha).
If you are booking on behalf of other travellers, you warrant that you have authority to do so and to accept these terms on their behalf. You will be responsible for making sure all members of your party are aware of and agree to these terms.
A booking is confirmed only when we have received: (a) a signed booking form or written confirmation of acceptance; (b) the deposit specified in your itinerary PDF; and (c) our written confirmation of the booking back to you.
You have 7 calendar days from your deposit payment to cancel for a full refund, no questions asked. After this, the standard cancellation terms in section 4 apply.
Prices quoted in your itinerary PDF are firm in the currency quoted (typically USD), subject to the following.
If you need to cancel after the 7-day cooling-off period, the following charges apply, calculated as a percentage of the total trip price.
| Days before departure | Cancellation charge |
|---|---|
| 60+ days | 30% (deposit only) |
| 45-59 days | 50% |
| 30-44 days | 75% |
| 15-29 days | 90% |
| 0-14 days | 100% |
Where we can recover costs from our suppliers (lodges, flights, etc.), we will refund those recovered amounts to you in addition to the above table. In practice, Kilimanjaro permits and some lodge deposits are typically non-recoverable.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance with cancellation cover — see our Travel Insurance guide.
We reserve the right to cancel or materially alter your trip in limited circumstances — typically for reasons of safety, force majeure, or where minimum group numbers are not met for a shared departure.
If we cancel your trip for any reason other than force majeure, you are entitled to either: (a) an alternative trip of equivalent value; or (b) a full refund of all amounts paid.
Minor changes (lodge upgrades, routing adjustments, guide substitutions) do not give rise to cancellation rights but will always be communicated to you promptly.
“Force majeure” means any event beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: war, terrorism, civil unrest, natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics, government action, border closures, airspace closures, strikes, and extreme weather.
Where force majeure prevents us from performing your trip or makes performance substantially more difficult, our liability is limited to refunding amounts we are able to recover from our suppliers, which may be less than amounts paid. This is why travel insurance is essential.
During the 2020-21 COVID period, we offered all affected clients full credit valid for 3 years. This was not a legal obligation; it was the right thing to do. We reserve the right to adopt similar approaches in future force majeure events where our financial position allows.
Safaris involve dangerous wildlife, remote locations, and activities with inherent risks. You agree to follow all reasonable instructions from our guides and staff, including: staying in vehicles when instructed, respecting distances from wildlife, following route and pace guidance on treks, and complying with lodge and camp safety briefings.
We reserve the right to terminate your participation without refund if your behaviour: (a) endangers yourself or others; (b) is abusive or threatening towards staff, guests, or local people; (c) involves illegal activity; or (d) seriously impairs the enjoyment of other guests.
Our liability to you is limited to twice the price of your trip, except in cases of death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, where liability is unlimited as required by law.
We are not liable for losses or delays caused by: third-party suppliers acting outside our reasonable control; force majeure events; failure of you to comply with documented advice (medical, safety, timing); or acts of wildlife.
Comprehensive travel insurance is a mandatory condition of booking with us. Your insurance must cover, at minimum: medical expenses, medical evacuation, trip cancellation and curtailment, and baggage and personal items.
For Kilimanjaro trips, insurance must additionally cover high-altitude trekking to 6,000m. For scuba activities, it must cover diving to your planned depth. Provide us with your policy number and 24-hour assistance line 30 days before departure.
If something goes wrong during your trip, tell your guide or our office immediately. Most issues can be resolved on the spot. For unresolved issues, submit a written complaint within 28 days of your trip ending to complaints@tanzaniarewilded.com.
These terms are governed by Tanzanian law. Any disputes will be settled by the courts of Arusha, Tanzania — though we will always attempt mediation first.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms from time to time; the version that applies to your trip is the one in force at the time of your booking confirmation.
These terms plus your itinerary PDF and our written correspondence form the complete agreement between us. Verbal promises or prior drafts do not form part of the contract unless confirmed in writing.
If anything above isn't clear, ask. We'd rather have a thirty-minute conversation now than a dispute later.
