Conservation Ranger with Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), experienced in wildlife conservation, park operations, and field guiding across major protected areas in Tanzania, including Serengeti National Park. Also works as a wildlife and walking guide, specializing in walking safaris and providing safe, professional wildlife interpretation in natural habitats.
Emmanuel Mlay is a former Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) Conservation Ranger who served at Tarangire and Burigi-Chato National Parks. He now works with Tanzania Rewilded as a Wildlife and Mountain Guide.
Pendael Kilimba is a Conservation Ranger with Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA). Since joining in 2012, he has served at Serengeti and Kilimanjaro National Parks. As a member of the Tanzania Rewilded team, he brings professional conservation and mountain guiding experience to every adventure.
Fred Shayo is a former Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) Conservation Ranger who served at Tarangire National Park. He later became a professional Wildlife Guide and is now a valued member of the Tanzania Rewilded team, sharing his conservation experience with guests.
Omary is a former Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA) Conservation Ranger. He now serves with Tanzania Rewilded, bringing his conservation experience and guiding expertise to every safari.
Godfrey Mgana is a professional Mountain Guide with over 15 years of experience guiding treks on Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and other Tanzanian mountains. He specializes in safe high-altitude climbing, route management, and client support to ensure successful summit experiences. He currently works with Tanzania Rewilded, supporting trekking operations and mountain expeditions for both local and international clients.
Oscar Mbunda is a former Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) Conservation Ranger who served at Mikumi National Park for over ten years. He gained strong experience in wildlife protection, park operations, and field patrol duties. He now continues to contribute to conservation through wildlife guiding and is a member of Tanzania Rewilded, sharing practical field knowledge and experience with visitors.
Yahaya Chuma is a professional Mountain Guide with extensive experience leading treks on Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and other Tanzanian mountains. He specializes in safe high-altitude climbing, route management, and client support to ensure successful summit experiences. He currently works with Tanzania Rewilded, supporting trekking operations for both local and international climbers.
Every February during low season, our entire guide team spends 10 days in a closed-camp training program. Guest speakers include veterinarians, ecologists, and photography specialists. We pay full salary plus training stipend.
All field guides hold Wilderness First Responder certification (80+ hours) through NOLS-accredited courses. We retrain annually. Mountain guides additionally certified for high-altitude medicine.
Every guide is trained as a mechanic on our Land Cruiser fleet — engine, transmission, and tire work. We have replaced zero vehicles in the field in three years because every guide can fix the small problems.
Every guide completes the Frankfurt Zoological Society's conservation-literacy curriculum. This is what allows the depth of wildlife interpretation you get on a game drive — not repeated facts, but informed interpretation.
